The Bhatte Waale
From a brick kiln to a garden of gatherings.
About sixty years ago, Late Shri Balbir Singh Bansal — known affectionately across town as “Bhatte Waale” — left Rohtak and made the sacred city of Mathura his home. He devoted himself, with the kind of quiet discipline that only an older generation knew, to the family’s brick-kiln business (eet ka bhatta), earning the respect and trust of everyone he worked with.
Much later, as environmental regulations and policy changes led to the closure of many local kilns, the business too was affected. But the family had never been one to look back for long.
His son, Shri Surendra Kumar Bansal, and grandson, Shri Mohit Bansal, decided to build a legacy of a different kind — one that would continue to serve generations to come, not in bricks, but in moments.
They put their heart and soul into Shri Goverdhan Garden: a place to bring people together and celebrate life’s most precious moments. It is, in many ways, a very Mathura thing to do — to take a piece of your own land and open it up for other people’s joy. We hope, when you visit, you feel that openness in everything we do.
